The MBBR is a technology where, in an activated sludge treatment context, there is the presence of plastic elements that are suspended in the liquid to be treated in order to provide a surface for bacteria growth.
The MBBR technology advantages are:
- Easy to use for the activated sludge plants upgrade
- Primary sedimentation is not necessary
- Loading limited losses
- Reduced obstruction in comparison with a traditional activated sludge plant
